Myers-Briggs (MBTI®) Consultation

“In practice we tend to assume unconsciously that other people’s minds work on the same principles as our own. All too often, the people with whom we interact do not reason as we reason, do not value the things we value, or are not interested in what interests us. The assumption of similarity, therefore, can promote misunderstanding of the motives and behaviors of people whose minds operate quite differently from our own.”¹

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®) is a self-report assessment based on Carl Jung’s theory of personality types. It is designed to help people identify their natural preferences with regard to four main areas: how we receive & direct energy, how we take in information, how we make decisions, and how we approach the outside world. The MBTI® helps people better understand themselves and others. It embraces our unique differences and recognizes how these differences can enhance and strengthen relationships.

Taking the MBTI® provides an opportunity to increase one’s self-understanding and awareness by identifying one’s natural strengths, as well as areas of potential growth. Consultation sessions to discuss the MBTI® results are individualized, explore in depth the different personality types, and offer practical strategies for using this newfound information in various settings, including home – with parenting & relationships – and in the workplace.

The MBTI® can be used for both personal and professional purposes, including:

  • Personal development & self-growth
  • Improving communication within families
  • Parenting
  • Strengthening relationships
